<font face='Comic Sans MS'><font size=2>Has anyone anyone ordered and installed the Catalina Direct replacement logos? On the web they don’t look the same as the originals. Are you happy with them?
Mine are broken with pieces missing and I would like to spruce Peregrine up.
Also, if you did how did, you get whats left of the old logos off?
Thanks

Hi John,
I used a single-edge razor blade scraper to remove the old logos, then OOPS, then sanded with 800 grit.
I'm in that anal retentive mode regarding new logos - I want the original! I have a friend who owns a sign company who says he can duplicate the originals. You may want to hold-off a day or two (or three) to see what he has to offer and at what price. Seems to me the new ones from CD were pretty pricey. Maybe enough forum members will want these to spread out the cost. I'll pursue this more aggressvely now and post something by weeks end.
Meanwhile, the newer Catalina 22s have the new logo. Maybe there's one in your marina?

I bought the logos from Catalina Direct and they are not exact duplicates. I am happy with them, though, because my old logos had pieces missing and I didn't know what else to do. I plan on using a chisel and razor blades to carefully scrape and remove the old logos.

The new logos have adhesive tape that is only a thin strip and does not cover the whole logo, so I may do something about that, like using a wide strip of adhesive and cutting it to shape, or removing the adhesive strip and using an adhesive like polysulphide or 5200.

I bought the new logos from Catalina last year. I confess I was disappointed they were not exact copies of the originals, but they looked a lot better than my old broken ones. I took off the old ones with a razor blade.
I think the new ones look great and they were maybe $10. I am impressed that some of you are willing to put the effort into designing plastic logo copies for your boats!
While I am talking about my boat (I am a sailor), I had a nearby Amash man make me some new upholstery for our boat. We were changing the accent color from rust to forest green. He did a great job. I think the cost for all new cusions was about $850. I thought it was reasonable. They are much better quality than the originals.
Now, I am going to do the carpet. Has anyone who is reading this replaced carpet in a C25?

Loren - I replace my carpet about every 18 mos to 2 yrs (it gets LOTS of use!). I buy a 12' x 4'6" remnant of a suitable color (for about $10) and use the old carpet as a template. Mine goes "wall to wall" and about an inch up the "wall" all around - this holds it in place very nicely and you don't have to replace all those snappy things.
Derek on "This Side Up"
P.S. I have the traditional interior and find it easier to have the carpet in 2 pieces - one for the cabin, and one for the head/V-berth section.

Thought I'd move this thread back to the top by asking others who'd be interested (no obligation) in ordering remakes of the original Catalina logo to raise your hand so we can get a head count.
I found my originals and will be sending them to my sign maker friend tomorrow. He's also a sailor and agrees that if the reproductions in plastic don't look original, we'll try another method or even another material like vinyl which would be just 2 dimensional.
I'll post some photos when we've got something that meets my anal rententive demands <img src=icon_smile_approve.gif border=0 align=middle> .

Derek,
Please excuse my delay. I just noticed that, even though I read with appreciation, your info about the carpet, I failed to say, "Thank you." I really do appreciate all the help I have been getting off of this site, even tho I don't always write something.
Thank you again.

Looks like a repeat of the masthead sheave situation--the guy on Long Island had no idea what was about to happen, and was overwhelmed with orders! Looks like your signmaker friend just discovered a new industry!

If reports are favorable, I'll take a set, too.

Loren
With regards to the rug, I too added carpet this year. What i did was buy some heavy brown wrapping paper, by cuting, folding and taping, i was able to make a one piece template of the entire rug area of a C25.

I then bought some indoor outdor carpet at Home depot, placed it bottom side up and taped the template to it. Then i sprayed with marking paint the area between the template and the carpet. I was left with an accurate line on where to cut the carpet. The carpet i bought also had rubber edges which cut very easily, also it doesn't allow the carpet to move when placed on the floor. This as i said is sold at Home Depot in bulk on those large rolls.

Good Luck
Frank Rich

Reasonable?! <img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle> Try FANTASTIC! Your Amish(?) friend could get the next stampede of C-25 owners--after the sheave guy and the logo guy! Although shipping a dozen cushions up to 7' long could be an issue...

Sounds pretty D<s>amn</s>arn reasonable with the cushions. We paid about a grand and still used the same foam....(don't ask)

As I think about it, I haven't a clue what the logo is supposed to look like. It never was on the boat. I saw the one at Catalina Direct but from what I have been reading it isn't correct.

Does anyone have a pic?

When I bought our boat this past February, the guy I bought it from had an extra original logo that he had in his packet of information. He said to hang on to it as it could either come in handy, or be a collector's item. I remember thinking, "Yeah, right!" Well, maybe he was right. It is of the original plastic and looks just like the ones that are on the boat. Maybe I should put it up for auction? The two that are on my boat are still in their original state. Or maybe I'll just hang on to it in case. Such troubles we all have, eh?
