I can't find the post that was made regarding making a lazy jack system yourself & I just want to tell that person THANKS! It was sooo easy! 4 eyestraps, 2 bullet blocks, 4 4" nylon cleats & 60' of 5mm line. It cost 35 bucks & took 2 hours of my time & they work great!!! Thanks again...you guys are awesome!!
I printed off a drawing, & instructions from that post, and I will be glad to post it if I can figure out how. Briefly, how it is done is you attach 2 eyestraps(1 on each side) right under the speaders, just above the attachment of the lower shrouds. Then you attach the other 2 eyestraps( 1 on each side)roughly 2/3rd's back on the boom. 2 cleats are attached horizontally on the boom almost right above where the boom vang is attached. The other 2 cleats are attached to the mast vertically but level with the cleats on the boom. You then attach approx. 7' of 5mm nylon line to the eyestraps under the spreaders, with the other ends attached to bullets blocks(one on each side). Next, you cut the remaining 46' of line into 2 pieces, attach one end(each side) to the eyestraps on the boom. Run the line thru the block and down to the cleat on the boom, and you've got a great, simple, easy Lazy Jack system. The cleats on the mast allow you to use your original sail cover. When you are ready to put your sail cover on, simply uncleat the lines off the boom cleats and tie them off to the mast cleats. (So much for being brief!!!)
Frank, you get the Mainsheet and the C27 section by spending $20 and joining the Association. At $5 per issue you cannot beat the price and the other goodies that come along with it.
