My 2000 250WK is in a slip and I'm needing to replace my damaged jib (torn and blown-out). Is it possible to connect a temporary forestay, take the CDI roller down and replace while the boat is in the slip?
It seems straight forward enough... I just wanted to run it past the wisdom of this forum before attempting.
I installed my CDI at the dock with the mast up. I tied the bitter end of the unused jib halyard to the mast cleat, and then ran the other end that hooks to the jib from the top of the mast forward to a bow cleat, pulled it tight and tied it off. From there you can remove and install the CDI furler. Just make sure you have that halyard secured good.
I agree, the CDI furler has an internal halyard, all you would need to do is attach a messenger to the end of the halyard so you can pull your new sail up the track once you have pulled your old sail down. Very straightforward.
