I took Pretty Penny out again on Thursday night, spent the night again anchored off Eau Gallie causeway, and then sailed up and down the intracoastal with a ~10 knot wind out of the east all day Friday. I had a blast, but got sunburned. :(
In the morning the wind was out of the north, but around noon, for about an hour, the wind just completely died. But just as I had decided to fire up the "iron wind", it came back out of the east an remained strong for the the rest of the day until I stuck her back on the trailer at around 4:00pm.
It was a good day... here are a couple photos. Not too great, but I only took two. I tried to get the awesome sight of the full moon on the water during Thursday evening but my camera is kind of cheap so it wouldn't adjust for the low light level. The air and sea were so calm that the anchor line just hung straight down and the lantern I use as an anchor light (don't have a charger yet) didn't flicker. It was a beautiful sight and it was also the first tim ethat I got a decent night's sleep on her since the other times I had her out it was about 20knot winds and choppy. :)
Enjoy...
Here I am beating toward the Pineda Causeway... this was in the morning before the wind shifted to westerly.
Here is Captain Dave (me). :) Captain of Pretty Penny.

It is great to see the Old Girl on the water again. I know you put a lot of time in Her and you are now only starting to capture the enjoyment. One of these days we will have to get together and swap stories about Her.

BTW, are you going to visit us in Texas again any time soon?
Won't be in Texas for awhile. The General will be there for three weeks in April on business, but I have a few projects to get finished one of which is a bottom and wax job on PennyII.

Sometime this year before hurricane season gets into full swing I want to take her to St. Augustine..... a little long-shore practice before I venture to the Bahama's next year. Maybe we can arrange something at that time.
Most of my stories with her are from the hard to this point, but there have been a few cool things on the three sailing weekends I've had her on.
Do you ever venture out into the ocean with your new vessel?
When you are ready for St. Augustine drop me an EM and I will arrange to meet you there. We can pick a time and a place later. Have not taken PennyII outside yet. Our Fleet planned on doing that on the trip back from Cumberland Island, but the weather was not very cooperative. Hope to make that happen sometime, probably on the next Cumberland trip.
