Alright guys, I think I am ready to look into a new outboard. (YES, this means I have decided not to sell my 1982 C-25 ) I am looking at the outboards from Online Outboards. Does anyone have any thoughts on the Tohatsu versus the Nissans. I have been told by some to buy a Honda but the price from OnlineOutboards is hard to look over. The 9.9 Honda is a little over 3k and the ones from OO are around 1900 (4 stroke, electric start, long shaft) that is a big savings in my book, especially since you do not have to pay shipping or taxes and it comes witha tank and fuel line. I am definatley going to buy one from them but I was trying to see if one might be a better motor than the other, or if there really is no difference.
OK. nevermind I think I just answered my own question. Tohatsu makes both brands. Supposedly there are absolutely no differecnes between the two except for decal on the cowling.

Yes, I saw that. I thought that since I was registered here that I was amember but I do not think that is the case. I found and filled out a form in the members section and will be sending a check out today, but I do not think I can access the members area to find out what the discount is until my money has been received. I would love to know whatit is since I am trying to pull the funds together now.

You don't want to pizzle on your shizzle. <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote"> Frank- could you elaborate on what "pizzle on your shizzle" means, I have not brushed up on my Snoop Dog terminology lately. I actually thought a 20" shaft may work, but are you saying that only a 25" will work? Puravida, Zach

The Catalina 25 benefits tremendously from an XLS. Some here get by with LS but XLS is better. I just realized the joining thing today and feel bad for using this site for info for so long without being a paying member. The check is in the mail. Puravida Zach
I second the XLS motion--unless you're on a small lake. My boat came with a 20" (Long) Honda that would lift its cooling intake out of the water if I was alone on the foredeck while it was running, so even in a quiet marina (not to mention a busy Long Island Sound) it was a liability that I quickly eliminated. And yes, Tohatsu makes the Nissans (and the smaller Mercuries).
