When I try to back the loaded or unloaded wing keel trailer into my sloping driveway the rear most channel drags the concrete for a few feet. Trail Rite suggests adding small swivel casters to the channel to help the situation. Has anyone had a similar problem and if so, did you come up with any clever solutions?

The small casters idea sounds like it would work. The same channel your talking about was bent on my trailer when I bought it. Sounds like my PO had the same problem. I have a steep driveway as well and mine don't drag, maybe because its already bent.

I had the same problem. My solution was to cut the v out of the center of the rear cross member and make it flat to give it more clearance. I put a roller on top of it incase the boat happens to come in contact with it but because it is the deepest in the water and the bunks are the tallest there it has never touched. I did it with the boat on the trailer so I had to put in a temporary cross member before I cut the center of the old one out. It used to v down like the forward cross members. No more problems scraping, I can even go over a curb with out hitting now.

what about a lower hitch on the truck ?
Only when I put mine in the driveway the tong extention hit .It would have cleared if the release (on the extention) was faceing up or to the side
I like keiths Idea I broke those three lights backing in last year

Keith, I'll tip my hat to you for backing that trailer into that space, especially if you do it without someone to help guide you! There's not much room for error.

Steve I always do it by my self and I usually get it in one try. In fact if someone tries to help is when I get into trouble. The biggest problem is turning it into the slot. The wall goes all the way to the street and if there is a car parked on the other side of a normal residential street it only gives me about 25 feet to turn the boat into the slot. To make things worse I use a 1 ton extended van to run the boat around. You do get used to it though it’s a 65’ long slot and there is 4” in each side. In that slot I also keep my 19’ powerboat and the 18’ Buccaneer sailboat. One other thing I have noticed is the Catalina is wider than the trailer so I have to watch the boat to see that it clears the house. What you see in the picture is deceiving because I normally keep the boat 2” from the house and in the picture you can see the trailer is at least 6” from the house.

Jim Mc,
I have the same problem with my C250WB.
My driveway is 25' long and 3' above the street.
My hitch extension drags on the driveway, so it's in my garage.
I use 2 hitches to park my trailer (5-1/4" drop and 3/4" rise).

Here's my procedure.
1-For towing, use the 3/4" rise hitch.
2-For backing into the driveway, start with 5-1/4" drop hitch.
3-About 1/2 way up the driveway, block the wheels and unhitch.
4-Switch to the 3/4" rise hitch.
5-Finish backing up the driveway.
