Just a little tip for everyone, it may be obvious to you, but vexed us for a while. We have been chasing a leak in our '82 WK SR since we bought the boat 15 months ago. The water was coming in the stearn of the boat, puddling on the shelves and getting under the quarterberth cushions. Not huge volumes, but enough to cause a little mildew last year. We sealed the deck cleats, backstay tabs, running light, etc. but with no success. Last weekend, we were preping the barge for drop-in this weekend, and noticed the water again. We crawled back in the q-berth, and after feeling arround up behind the cockpit shell discovered water on the brass scuppers between cockpit and stern (you can feel these tubes from inside the boat). These are brass tubes that were gooped with something at the factory and "swedged in" between the inside and outside like a big rivet. The factory sealant is long dried out and gone and standing water sits in that little trough by the scuppers and wicks up between the flange and fiberglass and drips into the boat. These tubes can't be removed without destroying them, so I worked some silicone sealant, a little at a time, under the "flange" all arround both cockpit and stearn flanges (like packing a bearing). We shot some water in the cockpit and it seems we have fixed it. Just thought I would pass this on.
