Hi all, I had my first sail of the year yesterday. Winds were really too strong though, at least for the wife, so we were only out there about 20 minutes before heading for the docks. I had a blast tho. Can't wait to go out again. Winds were probably around 20 mph, but I'm just guessing. There were tons of whitecaps tho.
The wife was complaining about the wave height before we went in. Then last night we watched World's Most Dangerous Catch (I htink that's what it's called) and I teased my wife about making us go in with our 1.5 foot waves when they were out there in 30-footers.
I bet it was great getting out there even if the spousal alarm went off.
Val,
I used to sail out of Lindenhurst and then Amityville. When I was at Amityville it was with a Luger 16 in a marina that had 90% ODays. marina owner was an ODay dealer. The marina was on same block as the Amityville horror house. It was actually an okay looking house...except for all the cars that would drive by it slow to take a look. Then I bought my ODay 23 from the marina and they launched it on the north shore out of Port Jefferson, LI. Our first sail was to Huntington harbor where I then kept the boat there for 5 years (1980-1985).
Curious as to where you normally sail. Do you go to Fire Island and anchor the boat there/go to the beach ?
