As some of you might know, my wife and I purchased the Antares from JB Manley a few weeks ago. I have to say he has kept her in extremely great shape for a 1985 Catalina 25. The last few weeks have been spent sanding and refinishing the exterior teak. Minus the hand rails, that are still in pretty good shape. I have refinished the ladder into the cabin and will be adding anti-skid strips tomorrow. The external teak and the ladder were refinished with Cetol light.

This is our first sailboat and we are itching to get away from the dock start letting the wind push us along. We joined the Catalina International Association and I look forward to reading the posts on this site.

We are planning to be at Grand Lake for both days this weekend. JB will go out with us one more time just to make sure we are comfortable with our new "cabin on the lake." We got our ASA certification last fall, and have sailed some with my sister inlaw in and around St. Martin.

The weather for this weekend is forecasted to be perfect. Saturday, temp in the 80's with 15-20mph winds. Sunday, same temps with the wind a little less 10-15mph. We have been looking for this day for quite a while now and are ready to try our hand at the right way to be on the water.

Hope everyone is excited about the upcoming season as we are, and hope you have a great season.

In my opinion 75% of the earth is water for a reason. That's why I sail.
