I just got the Halyards to Cockpit Kit from Catalina Direct. The instructions say to sail before whipping the ends of the halyards. The halyards have a spectra core. Something about extra cover over the core and the cover tightening up over the core at tension. How important is this step? Will I be sorry if I whip the ends before sailing and stretching the cover over the core?
