Ok, couldn't stand the suspense, so I got busy. Made this side table out of one of the $8.76 wooden tables from WalMart. Really didn't take that long.
The only additional thing needed was a piece of piano hinge to attach it to the counter top.
I removed the teak edging from the aft edge of the counter top and used it as a template for the wooden rail that mounts it to the countertop.

</center> It's held up by the legs that fold towards the counter side panel, there's a piece of wood there that they rest on. Quite sturdy... will provide plenty of extra space for my Gordon Blue extravaganzas (water and ships biscuits!)
Hmmm, now what else can we make from WalMart Tables... do I smell a competition Paul
Good work! What year did 250's get teak fiddles instead of the black plastic ones I've got? I'll call Catalina and request an exchange; probably have to buy 'em. I'll report on the result of my request.
Frank, I think the teak fiddles are just 'greener grass' I've seen the black plastic ones (same stuff as on the back of my galley countertop) and it looks ok, easy to clean and maintain?
