I've been looking into the idea of adding light-duty dinghy davits to my 250. Towing my inflatible dinghy in choppy conditions seems to slow us down. I found this MarTek model that would easily hold my little 45 lb. inflatable.
Dave/Deb, would that interfere with the swim ladder? I guess you would have the dinghy in the water when you wanted to use the ladder. How about when you are stern too at a slip?
I've thought about them myself. I've never seen dinghy davits on a 250. My inflatable is 8'6" long same as the width of the boat. I haven't weighed it but its close to 80 or 90 pounds. Yours is 45 pounds, how long is it?
west marine has that mini inflatable for $199. it could store easy below , and inflate it were you need it. They have a inflatable tandam kyak I think would be fun too.
Mine's 8'6" like Tom's and can be rolled up. I keep it stowed in the V-berth most of the time. The trick has been hauling it aboard and drying it off so I can stow it below again. Not much deck space for that. I tried carrying it on the forward deck: If flipped over, it will wedge nicely between the mast and bow pulpit, but it totally obscures my view forward from the cockpit. I suppose I could try putting it there and then letting the air out...
