In the process of installing my new water pump to allow showers and wash down (limited to 12gals at present = 4 mins = all gone!)
I'm going to install the pump under the false floor in the galley cabinet, just 'T' off from the supply to the galley sink and use the power supply already installed in that area.
Now to figure out where to run the output.
Running the pipe aft from the galley beneath the cabin floor into the bilge area astern of the steps is easy. But where to go from there?
Curious to know where you guys have run your pipe and what kind of delivery system (shower head/spray nozzle/ etc.) you use/recommend.
I installed the hose bibb in the galley cabinet and keep a 15" hose connected. The hose coils very neatly and stores vertically in the bilge cavity behind the door and is very easy to use and stow as well it will reach any place on the boat.
Because it is so convenient, I use to fill sink for washing dishes, rinse the dishess, and fill the tea kettle. It also rinses the scum line off after pulling out at which time I discharge all the water tank to keep it recycled.
If by chance you have a through hull for head intake and sail in fresh water, I'd encourage giving thought to providing the option of pumping from either tank or fresh water intake and forget using the pump to pressure the sink faucet... I don't use it very often with the hose so handy.
Arlyn, Could you clarify your setup. I don't see how the hose would fit down there (we have a water ballast model). Do you extend the hose with extra hose when you use it to wash the boat down.
Here is a picture... it could be that your boat has the galley floor fully to the door. Mine has the galley floor starting about six inches from the door, then a cutout for the waste basket and one for the old water tank. Our waste basket gets used for spray bottles that might leak if stowed where they get tipped over.
