I just bought a kayak trailer from these folks, they have lots of nice toys and I feel would help design something special. Go to the canoe/kayak frame, I bought the SUT-200-S. http://www.trailex.com/index.cfm
Their site seems to have died I tried the home page and it did not load either... trailex.com I am sure it will be back, they have been in business a long time.
Hey Frank, Are you getting into kayaking? It's a great sport. Here in the southeast we have great whitewater rivers. I have never paddled anything harder than the upper Gauley, section IV of the Chattooga, or the Colorado river through the Grand Canyon, so I'm no expert. I did try out for the US wildwater team once, but didn't make it. You probably have just flatwater in the midwest, but that's great too. You can sneak up on birds and wildlife and watch. Let us know what you are going to do.
I bought this a few months ago and am enjoying it, remember how big I am so this trekking sit-upon carries me and has the paddle drive too. I prefer the paddle but the peddles kick butt. Check out the movies. http://www.hobiecat.com/kayaking/models_outback.html
We got one of those with the sail and the 'flipper pedals' for our trip to the beach earlier in the summer. It was FANTASTIC. Sails pretty well for what it is, and the pedals are a great ide. I hope you have alot of fun.
Here are some photos of mine... its purdy. http://homepage.mac.com/fhopper/PhotoAlbum141.html There is a bungie that holds a peddle fast and that holds the fins hard against the hull for minimum resistance. The bungie is used close to shore to prevent damage and when you want to take your feet out of the stirrups and stretch your legs out while paddling. I have not tried the sail yet.
Cool boat Frank. I looked at all your links. Nice pics. What does 'transom mast carrier' have to do with your new kayak? I looked at the trailex website but didn't see a transom related carriers.
Go to the Accessories page. The mast carriers are there. The Mast-Up transom mast carrier has been a highly valued item for years but they are getting hard to find and in steel are very heavy. These guys are Aluminum freaks so their product should be nice.

My fleet includes two sit-on-top kayaks, but they don't sail... I'm jealous!
