We're new to this and seek to know the basics. Our 250 has a CDI Flexible roller furling and I don't have a clue how to take down the front sail for cleaning, etc. I can see how to relpace the lanyard line, but how does one get the front sail down / off and back on again ??
Also, we're in brackish (end of river, begining of bay) water and wonder how often we must bottom paint. It's a problem at our marina pulling the boat out of the water. It stays in for the winter with bubble system. Finally, does rigging last 10 years or it it about time to re-do the stays too ? All seems tight and in good order.
Great boat and inexpensive to run. Poor power guys - it costs more to start their two engines than run the little " Snowbird " for a full season.
Thanks to input from this Forum, I was able to douse and re-install my CDI furler. It's real simple. At the tack, attached to the drum, is a halyard line and a luff tensioner line. Simply remove the halyard from the small shackle, attach a long messenger line to it, then pull down the sail, removing it from the small slot. The halyard line will ride up and stay in the forward track. To re-install, simply reverse the procedure. Also check out the previous "jib halyard" posts that answered all my questions.
