The battens for my mainsail are all about 1 1/2 inches too long. The velcro does wrap around the end, but they extend a little beyond the sail. Has anyone else experienced this? Should I just cut them off? It seems strange the sailmaker would send the wrong size - is it to accommodate stretching of the sail???
Mine also came that way...I put them in the sail, marked them and cut the excess of with a hack saw, taped the ends and put them back in the sail and haven't had any problems...I would also suggest wearing gloves while doing this as the battens have some splinters of fiberglass on them...Dan #727
