Apart from inboard diesel and a wheel helm, what, if any, advantages do 250's have over 270's? Or the other way around? Thinking of moving up to a 270.

WE walked around the 28 at a recent boat show and it is awesome! <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></blockquote id="quote"></font id="quote">
We looked VERY hard at the C28. It's a great boat, but has very little storage space. It would be hard to find places to store stuff for a week's cruise.
I sailed a C28 for a week before buying my C250. Nice boat, but I found the aft bunk had less room than the C250, and in general it was more cramped below than my current boat. Also, you switch from an outboard to an inboard, and while that shift is inevitable for a larger sailboat, I find the convenience of maintenance on an outboard, and the ability to turn the motor when docking, both hard to give up.
Also, remember, a C270 is only 18" longer than a C250 in overall length...not really a big difference. It has more beam, giving you a bit more interior volume, and is definitely less tender due to deeper keel and beam. The deeper keel is probably not a factor for a socal sailor, but makes a difference to other folks.
The C28 is nice boat to sail though, I would assume the 270 to be similar.
