I don't have a picture handy, but perhaps someone knows what this thing is for. On my boat, an '86 TR/FK, I have a wire cable (approximately 3/8" wire) about 2 feet in length. There are loops at both ends of the cable. The length of the cable is plastic coated - like life lines. I wondered if this cable is attached to the tack of a Jib to raise the foot of the Jib above the deck. (I don't know why one would want to do that other than to increase visibility under the jib) So, I tried it yesterday and, yep, it looked pretty dumb and I took it off. Anyone have any ideas what the thing is for?
Well, Actually, as I think about it, the cable is more like 3/16ths" It was sitting below - not attached to the original motor. The previous owner just had a length of 1/4" line for the outhaul. I've never heard of a "Tack Extender" does such a thing exist?
