Came in from doing some work on the boat and noticed a small hole in the top with the deck light sticking through.
Took a few minutes cleaning up (had just fiberglass repaired my battery tray mod.) went back out and found this....

Think I need a new tarp?

Hi Paul,

That tarp looks just like one I had, and it did the same thing ... it split along the seam

Now I use a vinyl sign face to cover my boat (the kind today's billboards are painted on) ... it is bullet-proof!

The silver ones are much thicker and can withstand much more. Cheers.

Buzz, got any pics of your boat under cover?

(Went to wallymart and they only have tiny 10x12 HD tarps in stock.)

Hi Paul,

I found a photo and uploaded it to Shutterfly ... here it is:

I got the vinyl from my best friend ... he used to be in the outdoor advertising business. My buddy used to paint both sides of the sign face, so each one was used several times. Nevertheless, sooner or later he'd have to get a new vinyl and start over, and the old vinyls get tossed.

The downside is that they've got paint on them, but they are really strong. You might be able to buy an old one from an outdoor advertiser ... 'worth a shot if you're looking for a really tough boat cover.

Amazing Buzz! Now how come no one is selling them on E-Bay!

Paul.
