So gang, what is the consensus? For those living in the Northeast, do you leave your Catalina in the water or haul out for dry dock? And why please...

Thanks!

Out. The mooring balls get removed. Harbor master gives you until the 31st of October.

First, "b", give us more info on your vessel and its location. Could you add details to your signature, or for more privacy, to your member profile? There are lots of variables and many of us would be glad to help you.
Dennis, I read you are in water that, I think, freezes. Your decision should follow the cost vs. consequences matrix.

Hi Dan, my marina will, for the same price, take the boat out of the water or bubble it. If I leave it in the water I won't be able to do the bottom job and swing keel refirb. If I keep it in the water I will have a dog house to go to once a month. Cheers.

"Brandy" comes out every fall and I bring her home where I
can work and clean her up. The end of our season is probaly the last week in Sept in upstate N.Y. I question the use of a bubbler and the power goes out for***** days. I also question ice getting into places on the deck where it can do damage....Just my two cents......

I bought my boat in January this year with it being in the water. It had a fresh coat of bottom paint put on last November and looked good in the photos. I plan to take her out for a month or so to inspect and replace the keel hardware, rewire the mast, clean the bottom, and complete some other projects. Since my slip is paid for through next March, I may save my money and put her back in the water over the winter. My boat is just south of Annapolis, MD and the marina is going to put in bubblers. If the winter is mild like last year then I may even be able to get some sailing in.
