<font color="orange">"Excerpt from My Fiance's Blog"
"Yuck Ok, Bob, Marissa and I spent the weekend cleaning the boats and the jetski in order to put them away for the winter! I was happy to do it, I really was. Never mind the mess and the dirt. I don't mind getting dirty. But when I was standing behind the boat, I got a faceful of dirty, smelly bilgewater!! (I guess the whale Pump works good) Talk about yuck. Good thing my mouth wasn't open."
And she still wants to sail....cool..</font id="orange">
So my Question is this: I sealed her up nice and tight. The rainwater got in from the "Funnel Vent" on the foredeck. I want to replace this with either a cover or one of those solar vents. Has anyone done this with no or very minimal cutting?
Thanks

When I bought my boat last year, I noticed it had a vent cover in the cabin area. I noted the vent cover was labeled "Nicro". That gave me the idea that perhaps Nicro had a solar vent that would fit the same diameter as the vent cover. I purchased the solar vent, popped off the vent cover, took the solar vent topworks out of the box and pushed it into the hole housing. Perfect fit !
Take the diameter dimension and note if you see a mfrs name on your funnel vent. Perhaps, the same company will have a standardized hole size that will fit a solar vent.

Nicro makes solar vents in 3" and 4 ". I have the three inch model and it works just fine. It does require a level surface to fit properly and not leak. Check the hole size AND check to see if it is in a level area. If it's 3 or 4 inches and not in a level area, you could always use the blank that comes with the solar vent to cover it. Cut a new hole in a flat area. I hole sawed a hole in my front hatch - perfect spot for a vent on a 250.
I did the same thing Larry did. The 3 inch is a perfect fit with the replacement Niocor vent. It's solar/battery powered and runs 24/7. The constant fan has virtually eliminated musty ordors.
