I bought one of those Davits from Garhauer too. It's well worth the bucks. I have an 89 and inside the small cockpit locker on the starboard side next to the stern is a little access hatch. I guesse it is to access the pulpit bolts, but through that I accessed the bolts needed to install the base of the davit. I'm not sure if you have that on your model. When I lift the motor I tie off two long straps from the top of the davit to each of the two cleats mounted on my cabin roof to give it more support from being pulled astern by the weight of the motor. You may have to install some kind of access hatch to get at the top of your stern to mount the base of the davit. Good luck, and let us know how you make out.
What should have come with the dinghy lift is a black ball with a base. Just screw the base into the deck below where the ring for th pushpit is located. You do NOT need to thru bolt the ball, since the load is downward and then only in shear if the ball and the ring don't line up.
i have a black ball with a stainless steel base that'll take four screws or bolts. Then there's another "base" appearing piece that's stainless steel on one side and plastic on the other. Each has four predrilled holes but the holes don't line up. any idea what this second piece is? do you think a 1/2 inch stainless steel screw will do the job?
Hi Cks, I just wrap a strap around the motor and connect the rear end of the main sheet to the strap and use the mainsheet block and tackle off the end of the boom to remove my engine. After I have it lifted up, I can then swing it over to the dock. Of course you have to have your topping lift attached to the end of your boom. Cheers.
