I have a 82 fin keel 25. The outboard bracket has only one spring and I have a 7.5 Honda on it. I call garheur about purchasing just one arm with spring on it to upgrade my bracket but have had no luck getting a response from them. Has anyone got asny ideas.

There are several shots of different motor mounts on my pages, there is a link in my sig.
i called CD the other day to ask about the 4-spring bracket. the tech support guy told me that i definitely will also need to order the inside metal brackets for another $60. i brought up the starboard idea to reinforce the transom and he said that starboard wasn't that strong and the transom would warp if i didn't install the inside brackets. i only hesitate because he seemed to be hedging about the installation of the inside brackets repeating that the brackets had to installed as high as possible. any thoughts?

The transom is two parts--the outer hull and the inner liner, and the outer part is where the deforming is going to occur--not the inside. 1/2" Starboard (like Frank and I used) is perfect. I extended it as low below the bracket as reasonable, since the weight and thrust put the pressure on the bottom of the bracket. Inside, I used starboard behind the top bolts, since they're the ones that are being pulled against the liner. That was to hold a 110 lb. high thrust Honda. The transom isn't that weak to begin with.
Following Frank's idea, when I replaced our motor mount, I used a 1/2" Starboard mounting "plate" on the outside and a 1/4" Starboard backing "plate" on the inside.
I was told the same about having to order the inside motor brackets as well. Made it sound mandatory.
However, I read in another forum on the same subject where someone had taken the stainless steal brackets (the ones that the bolts mount to the hull through from their older outboard bracket) and used them on the inside backing plates for the new bracket. In looking at my older bracket, they looked identical to the ones sold by Catalina Direct. I'm going to give them a whirl and potentially save over $50. We'll see. Certainly Starboard mounting plates adds a degree of strength.
I had purchased the SS supports from CD but on my '89, they did not fit inside the transom onto the bolts. I wound up setting them aside and bolted up using just my starboard on the outer part of the transom (this was for mounting the 4 spring model bracket which I use with my 2006 Honda 9.9Hp). This has now been over 3 years sine I did the bracket install and everything seems fine - No change in the transom, etc. But I may install a Starbord on the inside one of these days. Not sure why the SS supports do not fit my transom/bolts.
