If it were the early models where the lid removed easily it would be of no issue, here it seems the lid would have to open over with the seat down, probably not an issue.
on the pedestal gard I have a hook on both sides for the mainsheet, and those black cup holders. that big knob is the wheel brake thow I dont use it anymore since I got the autopilot ,the pilot has its own. with the autopilot we keep the wheel on ,its a pain to take it off.
I have a question regarding the helm seat and cushion, what is it's use on a tiller boat? I am just in the process of buying a 250WK so will have plenty of learning ahead. Previous boats are Catalina 27, Hunter 32 and Newport 30. I am learning in reverse of others, smaller as I get older. Bob
Bob, Those of us with wheel steering usually sit on the aft fuel locker. One of the issues is aft fuel locker is low. We are always looking for creative ways other people customize their boats. I wouldn't consider a helm seat for a tiller boat. Russ #793
Russ, that's kind of what I was getting at. This boat comes with the seat, which I forgot is a fuel locker, but it also has the cushion for it. Must be for partying at the dock or at anchor. My 32 had a wheel but I mostly stood up all the time or rested on the cockpitseat back and reached out for the wheel. I was wondering if you could reach the wheel from the catbird seats. I am thinking that position may work for the tiller if I add a hiking stick. Anyway I think I am going to enjoy this boat and it is nice to see an active owners forum with a lot of knowledge and experience available. Bob
Hi Bob, Welcome to the group. Yes you can sit in the "catbird seats" and use the hiking stick on the tiller. I sometimes do it but only when the wind is steady. If there's frequent gusts I stay in the cockpit.
