Sounds like I have to go down now and turn on the TV so I donb't miss it.
But ...actually I saw the Godspeed up close when it visited Alexandria, VA. The area between Washington DC where the Anacostia River meets the Potomac and down near the Wilson Bridge just past Old Town, Alexandria is where I normally sail. One week (not sure when believe some time over this summer), a US Coast Guard Schooner pulled into the Potomac and docked up in the Washington Channel and believe just a week later, the Godspeed then came up the Potomac and docked right at the Old Town Alexandria dock. We saw it from the water side the days I went sailing during the time it was docked. No was either the US COast Guard Schooner or the Godspeed could sail up...they must have had to tow the Godspeed at least part of the way if not the entire way up the Potomac.
The USCG Schooner was in tow to the Washington Channel when I was sailing and they had those USCG Inflatables all over the place warning us to not cut in front of the schooner - give it a wide berth ! As though they had to tell me that ...Duh ! But this was official business...so Aye, Aye Sir !
Hi Tom, yesterday I was down at the boat getting it stowed for winter and I noticed a little gap were the compression post nested into the bottom of the boat so I slipped a quarter in it for good luck. Cheers.
