"note the door added to starboard under the insert as well."

May not have been an add-on, I have one in the same location and it looks like a factory option.

Hi CB, is there much space there? Is it worth the time and effort to install a hatch there? Cheers.

You should be able to estimate that by looking under the v-berth (visualizing the position of the sidewall to starboard) and under the sink. If you have a forward sink, that small space will have the drain hose going through it to the thru-hull under the v-berth. You might be able to fit a little "floor" in over the hose and get a few precious cubic feet.

Haven't looked for awhile, but as I recall there's not a lot of room for larger 'solid' items. I think it could take quite a bit of ziplock bagged clothing or similar 'stuffable' stores.

If I'm down at the boat tomorrow for lunch I'll take another look and check it out. Last time I was poking in there I was running wiring to the depth sounder.

Holcomb would be a good person to ask, but I think on early models both of those doors were options and the one on starboard was an option in the late models. Our DPO didn't get either of the two, so we added our own...

Traveller looks real weak Dave.....and the snaps might just be for a cockpit cover... Kinda like the stinkboaters do. You'll become more accostomed to their ways as soon as that boat gets finished.

I have both doors in my boat. The one to starboard is comparable to the lower galley door to port under the stove. I use all the space I can get, so I like it.

Nah! I'll be out there yelling "Starboard! Errr... oops... sorry! Forgot--no sails!" (BTW, what's that round silver thing in front of the Starboard chair for?)

I have no pop top and have to say I've never missed it. It also gives more room on the deck to run lines aft.

Easy not to miss something you never had! I liked the pop-top especially for the open-air (with shade) on a hot day in the slip or on the hook. There's plenty of room for triple clutches on both sides. I believe mine had more room between the poptop and the forward end of the handrails than what I see in the picture above--don't know how that could be...

I have always thought the non popper is the preferred boat. It would be fairly easy to take that sea hood on up like the Jaguars from England.

I picked my door up on ebay for 16 bucks a few years ago. I'd take a look at the Teak section in the ebay links pages for starters. If nothing is there I'd run a search on ebay.

Pete's Thai Teak Marine is good, but shipping out of Thailand is a touch on the pricey side. It would eliminate any discount you have.

Looked today at lunch. I'd remembered correctly. There's not a lot of room in there... except for 'stuffable' materials.

Clam - are you referring to the small one to starboard or the big one going forward. Because the forward one can hold everything short of an elephant.

That guy who wants to carry a keg aboard for the crew could probably get a pony in there. Maybe thats a new topic though.

The door to starboard. As a variant, my boat has two sliding drawers to forward under the V-berth rather than the side opening door there.

Our 1985 has a small shelf on the port side and the door forward. We keep gallon jugs of water on the smal shelf. It holds 3-4 at a time. I do like the idea of a drawer (if it would fit) on the starboard side. Darn, there's another project to add to the list. I'll add it to the others. Somehow I keep working those projects, but the list is never shorter...
