I am prepping my Catalina 22 to take up to a broker for sale. In the process I am removing some items that I want to keep for the 250, such as the whisker pole, flag mount, etc. The C22 has a furler and some very nice stanchion-mounted guides for the furler line back to the cockpit. These allow the furler line to be routed outside of the stnchions and out from underfoot. I have never rigged a 250. Would/could it also use stanchion-mounted guides to route the line to the outside? Thanks.
We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.
Randy, we never really notice the furler line as it runs along the deck inboard of the stanchions. We did just rewind the furler line so that it winds clockwise (in from port side) so that it hinders the anchor locker lid less than when it is wound anticlockwise.
I walked out to "Brandy" this afternoon and looked at the routing for the furler line. There are two fairleads, one on the first stantion and the second one on the second stanchion. Both about 6" above the deck. Both on the inside of the stanchion's. I would think that first fairlead would have to be lined up with the center of the furler drum to allow for proper positioning when rewound...
