Go check out the "new main" thread on the 25 specific form, I learned a lot there. I think I'll be going with http://www.ullmanventura.com/. At first I was just thinking least expensive but there's more to consider.
No idea where you live. Ullman is okay, but if you are on the right coast then Ullman ventura is a little out of the way for that face to face service.
All of these are reputable companies - however realize most of the lofts are franchised deals so who really knows who you are getting.
Sobstad - First and Second overall (first was a furled laminate - very nice) North Doyle - I believe first place in the std rig this year Ullman UK Shore Cruising Direct Catalina direct (I beleive Ullman makes these but am not sure) Quantum
You'll find most of the links to these places in on our links page
This old thread I created a year ago may be helpful http://www.catalina-capri-25s.org/forum/topic.asp?ARCHIVE=true& TOPIC_ID=11467. There was some good discussion regarding where to buy a headsail and whether or not to get a foam/rope luff installed since it is a furling headsail. I went with Cruising Direct for my 135% genoa without a rope luff and have been very happy with it.
One of the big decision makers was that just about everyone agrees that North makes nice sails. When I called my local North Sails loft in Annapolis, their rep actually recommended that I just order one from Cruising Direct because it is essentially the exact same sail that my loft would make, only my loft would come to my boat and take measurements. Since our C-25s are so popular, most of these Internet/Mail order lofts have them already made to size for our C-25s.
i'm in southern connecticut.my jib was torn during the Labor day "hurricane" last year. the local loft is in the process of evaluating the sail for repair. however, many have told me their work and products tend to be "high end" if you know what i mean. i'm just getting a list together if their prices are more than i can bear. i checked out catalina direct already - they do sell ullmans for about $900- i was wondering if i could get them for a little less.
Check with Cruising Direct. They're a subsidiary of North, their sails are made and serviced by North, they're made of North sailcloth, and they're very competitive. Basically, they're North's small boat division.
Until recently, they were still offering very good off-season and boat show discounts. I don't know whether those discounts are still available. Wherever you buy, you should do it soon, because the prices are likely to go up during the sailing season, when everyone wants their new sails right now.
My headsail had severe UV damage, the PO did not pay for a UV cover and, I sailed too often to pull the sail down and have UV stripe sewn on. I purchased a 135% from Lee Sails (should be here in about 5 more weeks). CD was about 1.5 BU's less than North. Lee was about 1.5 BU's less than CD.. I'll let you know how it goes when it shows up.
