I was surfing through the Craigslist in Oregon, specifically the Oregon Coast area and came across an 1989 C25 for sale. I requested photos and the boat looks like it is in great condition. I do not have any specifics, but the link is: http://oregoncoast.craigslist.org/boa/287993000.html

That price is in the right ballpark at least compared to what I paid for my 1989 in Fall05. I believe my boat was also advertised at $10,500 or just a tad bit below that. They settled for $9750. The motor on the boat was a bit finicky, so I knew I might have some expenses with that...which turned out to be the case having bought a new Honda 9.9 in Feb 2006. My Catalina was a tall rig, wing keel, 3 sails with a furling rig. Had a VHF radio, full set of vest style life preservers and a bunch of other odds and ends.

It is hard to evaluate the true value of the boat you are interested in without at least seeing some details/photos of the boat but some of the options he mentions would bring the price up a bit. If the boat is in excellent condition, then the only thing that dramatically effects the price is the condition of the outboard if it comes with one. The advertisement did not mention any details. I am also a bit queazy over advertisements that do not provide a whole bunch of detail. My thought is that if one of us were advertising, we would not hesitate to provide a paragraph or more about the boat details. On Craig's list, they do not charge for how many lines of detail one provides and for this boat, it seems very skimpy ad...why ?

No mention of a trailer in the ad either. Brookings is a small town hundreds of miles from anywhere... had to get there somehow.

My dock fee is paid up for this year and I can't wait to get on the water again. This year I am learning how to sew! Not that frilly, girly stuff, but heavy canvas things like cockpit cushions and winch covers and maybe even a new dodger. I really miss the C25 group, in my opinion the best boating forum on the web! Come on up again and lets catch up on things

Just to bring everyone up to speed, we had our first sailing season last year with our new (to us)Cape Dory 25D. It took some getting used to getting out of our slip since the prop walk would pull us to one side or another. I miss the way I could rotate the C25 outboard and turn on a dime. The new boat has standing headroom, but due to wider seats in the main cabin, it seems smaller than the C25. She sails beautifully and needs a reef tucked in at about 13 to 15 knots of wind, which is earlier than I am used to. The boat launches and retrieves very easy on the trailer and we look forward to taking her to the San Juans very soon.

P.S. I am looking for some lewmar 16st's if anyone has a pair. I also have almost a complete set of Catalina turnbuckles for a very reasonable price.

Hey, Bruce!! Last summer we DID drive up your way but we stopped to visit my brother in Shady Cove on the Rogue. We did a bunch of gold mining on his old gold mine property, then headed out to the coast to his house on the coast at....Brookings!!!
I am really saddened that we did not come up and visit/sail with you folks then.
However, my wife and I are making an Airstream (25 ft, too) trailer trip up to the Columbia River Gorge(eous) and maybe up to Washington state somewhere. We shall have to stop by for a sail (if you don't mind????

).
A really good friend of mine from when I was a kid lives in Corvalis so I need to cross paths with he and his wife again, too.
Don't know exactly when yet but it should be in late June or early July......

Gary: Love to meet you! Corvallis is about 45 minutes north of us. I live in Eugene and we have a place to park your airstream and always have the barbeque ready and a cold one in the fridge. Call when you think you are coming
