Hello:
Last season we drained the water tank with the hose. Just like it was discribed on this web site, worked great. I went to fill the tank for this season and it was full of water. We had the boat covered all winter and no other water was in the boat or the bilg? Can anyone explane how this happened, or if it has happed to you.
Thanks

Joan

Joan;

I had a similar situation with my holding tank. When we bought the boat, it had been in storage for two years. It had been sitting on a slight slope, with the bow down a little to much, making a low spot on the deck right where the vent for the holding tank was. The rain water had traveled to this low spot and drained down the vent tube for the holding tank, filling the tank, the head, and ran out into the cabin, filling the bilge, and two inches throughout the cabin. Now my fresh water tank ('82) does not vent outside, but you may have had the same kind of low spot situation around the fresh water fill opening, and the cap has a bad (or none at all) gasket around the cap. Remove your fill cap and check for a black 'o'-ring around the top of the cap. Otherwise, it's the work of gremlins.

Where on the website is information about draining the water tank? I need to do mine, but haven't summoned the courage yet.

Hay Paul;
it was the vent. thank god it was not gremlins.
AS FOR THE DRAINING
get a garden hose fill it up with water screw the end together. Take the hose to the boat unscrew ends keeping water in. Put one end in the holding tank keeping it in water all the time. take the other end and drop it over the side of the boat. If the end in the take comes out of the water you start all over. Good luck it works great.
