I have been working on a leak that is coming through the brass scuppers in the cockpit. I have a 1989 hull # 5836 with brass inserts for scuppers. The cockpit has a small catch tray at the very aft of the floor that can collect stuff before it gets washed out the scuppers. The bottom edge of both scuppers leak into the lazerette once the tray gets full enough to spill out of the boat. I have tried to force caulking up under the edge, but this dosen't work. I need suggestions or ideas that can stop this leak.
I've been told here that silicone won't work, although it did well for me on a similar leak around the anchor locker drain. A disadvantage of silicone is that sunlight deteriorates it. Silkaflex has been recommended as an alternative--probably silicone plus something else (perhaps similar to Boatlife LifeSeal).
