OK, here is another project. Not hard except the scary part of drilling a 4 ¾” hole in the cabin roof. The unit is a Nicor 2000 Plus Day/Night solar vent, the 4” model. Here is the completed installation on the roof:
Here is the view from inside. The unit works great and is always running. It can be shut off and closed from the inside. Fairly quiet but the Admiral will want it off when we go to bed.
Also put two handles on the companionway hatch. They are large, rounded and cushioned. What a difference they make!
That’s it. Easy mods but they make life easier and more pleasant.
We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.
Great job! I also mounted a solar vent on my boat. I chose the front hatch for cutting the large hole. The vent runs all the time (hence "day/night") and keeps the air circulating. Run it so the air is being sucked out, that way you can sleep without it blowing on you. It is very quiet and uses a rechargable "C" battery. Which reminds me, I need to pick up a new battery for this season.
