My panel has two sections. The upper breakers are pre-set for interior light, navigation, running, etc. The lower three breakers are all marked "accessory." Right now they are in use as follows:

1-ciagerette lighter power outlet and stove ignitor.
2-bidata depth and speed
3-Autohelm

OK, I am going to add a chartplotter and a VHF. What do you folks do - add another DC panel or double-up on some of the breakers?

We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.

Will you be done then? Or is there a chance of putting in more later....

If you're done you can, for now double up....

Otherwise put a separate panel in....

You could put a big breaker in one of the accessories and power a "navigation electronics" sub-panel form it.

Randy, are they 'Breakers' or switches? on the C250, they are switches, only one breaker for the entire panel.

FYI, our '3' are for (vhf),(depth, wind, speed, gps)and lastly 'power', which supplies the cigar lighter (wish there was another name that everyone understood for that thing) and the TV/DVD/Stereo, it is also connected to the water pump via a seperate switch, we never run the sound system and the water pump at the same time. But I do plan on adding another panel ease the load on that set.

Right, they are switches connected to two breakers. A nav subpanel sounds interesting.

The CBs on the DC panel are large and able to handle much more than most new electronics. A simple solution, and one that I use, is to wire one of the panel accessory switches to a bus bar and label it electronics. Then from the bus bar I attach all electronics +ve then a in-line fuse on each at the recommended rating from the instruction manual. Most new electronics require no more than a 2 AMP fuse and most less than 1 AMP. This allows for one switch for all and protection for each as specified by each manual. My NAVMAN instrument manual specifies a 1 AMP fuse for the five instrument NAVMAN package.

we have a bus bar for the electronics (Like Jerry said The electronics have small fuses )and a 20 amp 10 spot car style fuse pannal for other things I add along the way ,lights and stuff .

try to have everything to one power shut off ,its easer to shut off one switch then run around the boat shutting everything down.
