Does anyone know the right size sail track stop for the C25 89sr? Catalina Direct has it wrong online. I ordered the Davis sail track stop which has a "round" internal portion of stop and it doesn't fit. There is no way to get it into the sail slug opening of the mast. My guess is that it takes a "flat" sail track stop rather then a round one. According to CD online the C27&C30 uses a large flat internal portion of stop. The only other one offered by Davis is the Small flat stop. Is that the right one?...and a call back to CD did not help...Thanks, Dave
David, The mast track on my 89 sr/wk is round, I am installing the Mast Gaters so I can easily reef the main. this eliminates the need for the stop. You should check your Pop Top catch size, it essentially does the same thing.
I don't know what the size or configuration is and I also have an '89. However, I bought the wrong one from a local West Marine store and then went back and exchanged it for the other one they also had on the rack. I believe they were both made by Davis but cannot remember the sizes or shapes. But it was easy enough to buy one, return it and then try out the other. If a store is not local to you, then it is an issue to get the right one. Otherwise, as long as you get one that fits in the track and has while holding it and moving it side to side it does not come out and you can then twist the knob to secure it, then it should be fine. Prior to that, I used a Bolt, nut and washers and that held fine as well but...wasn't exactly made for that application.
I had the same problem with my '84 boat. The sail stop Catalina direct sells (round 1/2") will go into the track with a lot of difficulty. I had to tap it with a hammer. The track opening on my mast is just a hair under 1/2", but it will move freely once you get it in. David
