I have had snaps refuse to snap off and the cloth has torn. Found that at the begining of the season spraying a very small drop of WD-40 inside of each snap it attaches easy and then snaps off. I use a clean cloth to wipe up any extra lube as it's hard to sometimes spray a small amount.
I prefer to spray a little on a rag and dab it into the female part--less mess. I also intend to buy one of those little tools that fit between the parts of the snap to pry them apart--I think that'll do a lot to save my new canvas.
Are your snaps corroded at all or clean with a tight fit? Mine are a bit corroded and I was thinking about getting out the dremel but if they're still way tight when clean I'll just get out the wd-40.
