This is my deflector to keep water from climbing up the bracket motor mount and over the top of the outboard. This happens in rough seas and in heavy wakes. I had one I made for the Catalina mount that came on my 79 and this is the one made for the four spring bracket. Had to devise a way to cover the front which would still allow the outboard to be raised. It is in two sections with a spring that keeps them up close to the tubing. I only had to drill two holes in the mount bracket and the rest in the stainless sheet metal. I considered the use of the plastic boat lumber and even clear plastic the weight was the factor. Black plastic ties hold the pieces at the ends with a relief for the spring pin. Used trial and error to discover the exact hole for the pin. This helps keep most of the water from covering the outboard.
Looks pretty awesome. That would have helped my Nissan a few weeks ago when I was in my own episode of "deadliest cruise". I really have NO idea how the motor stayed running. When I went up those waves, it seemed very little of the engine was above water.
