About a couple of weeks ago my leech rope tore completely and I noticed the UV was coming unstitched. Yesterday my Dad and I took a trip to Ford City (about 2 hours)to have the doctors at Sail Care take a look at my worn furling Genoa. They are in a very small town NE of Pittsburgh. Dennis and Jerry looked over my sail, took measurements, explained the condition, issues and things that would need to be done for it. They spent about 20 minutes on it and looked it over real good. The result is that the sail would cost $560 to replace the UV, do some headboard repairs, sew in new leech rope, fix the luff tape, and clean/resin. I would highly suggest them to anyone because they take the time to look the sail over and give you an honest assessment. In my case the cost is over half the cost of a new sail and I will be purchasing a new sail before the next season. I will also be offering my worn Genoa to anyone who might want it. I am going to remove the UV for the rest of the year to avoid it catching on anything, The sail does not have any tears, just pretty worn. The only other thought is to use it as a drifter, and I thought someone had some ideas on how to convert it to such use.
