Anyone have thoughts/suggestions on marinas for less expensive onland winter storage in CT or NY (Not in LI though)?
Thanks!
Bryan

Bryan,
Do you have a trailer for your boat. My one friend lives in New London and knows a lot of people in the sailing industry and might be able to help you out.

If you don't have a true boat trailer, you can find an equipment trailer for around 2 large, and mount a cradle on it. Crane on, crane off....work on it at home. And, most neighbors love looking at a boat.... Pays for itself in a few seasons.

Bryan:

How much are you willing to pay? I live in CT on LI Sound and there are a few marinas in Norwalk and Bridgeport that are relatively less expensive BUT inconvenient (far up rivers, and/or less safe locations). Also check with clubs -- many look for non-members for winter storage but charge members costs. Finally, also talk to construction companies with large, fenced/locked parking yards -- they may be willing to rent some space, albeit they will not have services and might have limited access.

Good luck!

Haverstraw Marina on the Hudson River is a couple of miles north of Tappan Zee Bridge. Great facility and you can keep your boat in water, with a bubbler, or on land. I've used them for a couple of winters and I think the charge was less than $1000 for hauling, powerwash, placing on their jacks, and launching in spring. Good luck.
