Starting with hull 764 Catalina moved the jib tracks so they would be parallel with the center line. That allows better sheeting angle for the jib. I bought new tracks and am planning to install them soon.
Does anyone know what is under the deck. It wood or glass? I am hoping it isn't wook as it will make the installation much easier.
Hey Steve, I put clam cleats at the end of the jib track (seen on the forum I forget who did it ) At the end of the track there was the outside glass 1/2 " or thicker then a air gap then the ceiling glass .
the drill size for the top is smaller then the one for the ceiling because the of the barrel nut . West marine sells them
That is very interesting. I called Catalina to find out what was under the deck. They told me there was marine grade plywood. I hope when I make my first hole I find what you did and not the plywood Catalina said was there. It would be a much easier job without the wood.
Steve, I don't think the plywood would be any obticle, in fact it's pretty easy to route out the ply from around the hole and refill with resin/glass/filler and then redrill. That way you'll be comfortable knowing that you will greatly lessen the chance of a leak, and without the ply, any leak would just run around heading downwards. I like the fact there is ply in there.
