This summer I did more singlehanding than ever and found myself wanting to be able to manage my jib lines easier. The distance between the tiller and the winches is just too far and while I considered mounting 2 more winches I think what I am going to do is mount swivel based Spinlocks just above the coaming compartments. I was considering diagonally mounted cam cleats with line guides but my research has shown that they managed about a 150lb load while the Spinlocks handle 400 lbs. Anyone out there have any experience with this particular piece of hardware or have any feedback to offer? Willy
Willy, I'd be very interested to know how you make out with this mod. I mounted cam cleats in the same location and they seem to be just OK. The get the job done but not as well as I had hoped. I'm considering spending the bucks for winches on the coaming but the cost is so high...obscenly so for self-tailers. If you have pictures or parts numbers for your plan I'd love to see them.
