After months of foot dragging for one reason or another, I finally got with the PO to pick up the rest of the stuff for the boat he had in his garage and attic. He had cushions and floor boards and the Capri 25 #1 and #2 headsails, spinnaker and pole that must have been like new when he bought the boat in 1992. He broke the head foil when he was setting up the boat and decided to get a hank on C25 Genoa because he was sailing short handed and never used these sails. The only thing is the spinnaker, except for blue 167, is Day-Glo-florescent-"hunter"-construction-worker-vest-(warning-warning)-ORANGE. HUMM...don't know if there is some message there. What a hoot!!! Can't wait to get these new sails on the boat.

All I can say is when somebody flies a kite that loud, his boat had better be FAST! Sorta like the guy named Sue.

Yes, and the mind reels at the thought of a spinnaker novice like myself muffing a retrieval. Could be something a person would never live down. Might be why the PO never flew the sail.

Wow--talk about living something down! Reminds me of a friend pulling up his jib, upside down, in front of a dozen J-24s headed out to a race. (I was on his boat.) Big round of applause!

It looks pretty good on a cloudy day.

... but you have to show it to us again in full sun when you're surfing down waves at 9 knots in your Chinook 34. Are you going to keep it or leave it with the Capri?

Hey, that orange spinnaker would be fine in east Tennessee, very close to UT orange. If the panels above and below the sail numbers were white...

Mentioned on another thread... At the S2-7.9 Nationals that we hosted (I had chase boat duty), I saw one boat hoist the spin sideways like the pic above. fortunately for them it was during the practice race before the main event started. Pity I didn't have the camera with me that day. It was a fun event - 21 boats.

That orange one looks like a "Storm Spinnaker" You could tell people it was designed to be flown in front of a thundercloud.

With that orange spinnaker, all you need now is matching hull paint.
