I need to replace the hasp that holds my anchor locker shut. In the chandlery there are approximately 37,000 doo-dads that may or may not be the right gizmo, and my descriptive skills are poor.

Could someone please post a pic of their anchor locker hatch closure.

(In case it matters, we have a 1984 FK/SR - and it came without the thingy in question.)

Um... Never mind. I found it on Catalina Direct.

Before I go and order it though, if anyone has better ideas than the stock part, I'd love to hear them!

Yup--a chrome-plated bronze barrel bolt, which won't seize up like the original equipment ones all seem to do. Available at every West Marine and most other chandleries.

Super-wimpy question... Herself is planning her summer based on number of hours spend sunning on the foredeck at anchor. Is that barrel bolt more or less likely to cause discomfort when stepped/rolled on than the stock part?

Where it's located........ well, the original has a knob that sticks up--the barrel knob lies down. Take your pick--I don't want to be responsible for her tender self.
