The traveler on my boat may be the original one!!! It is very cumbersome and not smooth. I would like to replace it. Any suggestions as to brand/model/size would be appreciated. Any other input I should know would also be helpful for this occasional sailor. Thanks.

I am changing out my OEM traveler with Garhauer. I have a lot of their hardware already. The stuff is bulletproof and cost effective. They do sell kits. http://garhauermarine.com/catalog_process.cfm?cid=34

I've been very happy with a Harken windward sheeting traveller. I had to replace the track with a high beam track so that the car would clear the lip on the seats. It's way, way better than the stock setup. The cleats are on the car though, so you have to be able to reach down into the cockpit to grab the line to pull it up if you don't bring the line over with you on the rail.

The Harken Windward Traveler is The Bomb. Changed it out first thing 4 years ago, and has never failed to perform. a little more $ but worth every dollar!

I have always had the windward sheeting traveller and found it to work exceptionally well. I lenghthened the lines and added a harken RF2358 stainless fairlead on each side to keep the traveller controls close to me while driving.

I'm pretty sure that mine is the small boat traveler. I think it is #H211 in the old harken catalog that I have.
