Wow, we took our boat out Saturday from the Kitsilano boat ramp in Vancouver. Was a 3 ft tide and when we backed down the first ramp and took the truck right wheels right to the water's edge and the none of the hull was even wet. Oop's maybe the fisherman are pretty smart getting there much earlier.
We then tried the second ramp that was in much worse shape because we had to back right on to the sand to get the boat deep enough to float. Well it was much steeper and the boat just slid off the trailer into the water and away we went.

I had ordered new sails right after the boat show here in March and this was the first time sailing with them. These are Quantum Sails and they fit and look great on the boat. Our previous owner put a Cat25 150% on the boat when getting the furler and it just didn't work for our 95WB boat with shrouds outside at the deck hull connection. The new 110% looks and performs excellent. Also got an asymetric Spinnaker which was fun to get the boat going over 5 nts in a 6-8 nt breeze.

The rudder is still an issue and I will be building or ordering a new rudder soon.
Retrieving the boat was the easiest yet with our new alignment bars, also the tide came up 6 or 7 ft. Just knowing where the boat is over the trailer made a huge difference.

Great day but we were bushed when we got home at 8:00 pm. Now we have to set up for weekends on the boat.

Hope others had a good weekend too!

Peter

Peter: Happy for you to finally have your sails and a bit envious that we can't sail together until probably mid August or so... we're still in the north and working hard to complete the house for our kids in Smithers, BC. The project is going well and on schedule thanks to local volunteers and especially Jim Cunningham who in spite of being my senior by some 8 years has unlimited energy and resources. Weather has been cold. Lost over 20 lbs and feeling great. Henk for Johanna too...
Miss our boat a lot!!
