(What's it worth to not have the mast come down?) I found CD's price to be competitive, and their "kit" of premade stays was perfect out of the box, with bronze open-body turnbuckles.
I've replaced a pair of something in my standing rigging every year. First year it was upper shrouds, the next year it was lower forward shrouds, next year it was aft lowers and etc. Makes the cost easier to swallow. Next year I'm going to start replacing running rigging.
IMHO - if you replace one side, you should replace the other.
