I am working on a custom Bimini cover for RRW. I want the cover over the cat bird seats from the back stay aft. I will set it up so that when it is folded up it will tie to the backstay. The plan is that when I am in port or at anchor I can swing the boom to port and add an extension cove that snaps from the Bimini to just above the Cabin door. I have a meeting next week with the local shop to talk about it. I messed around the other day using 3/4" PVC to see it it is possible and it looks like it can work. I just want to be able to stand under it and sail from the cockpit or cat bird seats.

I also plan to have an extention from bimini to cabin door top next year. I think you can have a zipper sown on the leading edge of the bimini and snaps for over the cabin top.

Have a look at Knotty Cat's web site. He did just that: http://www.knottycat.com/ Go to Modifications then Bimini.

Steve

I have looked at Knotty Cat's site and they have a lot of the mods that I want to do. His Bimini is what I want only taller. His top sits under the boom. I want mine to go over the top, and aft more. Where the backstay splits is where I want the top to be. I am 6'2" and want to be able to stand up. My neck and forehead are sore from hitting in the cabin. So if you look at his and move the Bimini up and back is what I am looking at. I am going to contact him and get some dimensions and see what I can come up with.

You won't be able to use a Bimini under way if it is voer the boom, will you?
