Due to a new slip and in the wide open part of the lake I was able to run downwind with just the 110 Genoa deployed. Is there inherent
dangers running straight downwind with this setup? THANX again.

Do you use a whisker pole? We went wing-and-wing for the first time a few days ago. With the main up the danger is accidental gibes. With just a genny up I think you are fine.

Downwind Wing on Wing is my favorite point of sail...especially when it gets cooler and it means you don't have to "take it in the teeth"! While I don't think there is any inherent danger to using the jib only, you will probably find the boat easier to steer with both sails up because it balances the power. I DEFINITELY recommend a whisker pole as it wont jibe when the sheets are tight and so makes it easier and safer as you only have to monitor one sail closely. Just haul the board all the way up and be amazed at how fast you are going...you may need to use a GPS for accurate speed assessment though as it really seems slower!

Willy, you got that right. When we were wing on wng it didnt feel fast. The we went hard into the wind and it did feel fast. But guess what - we were going half as fast as the wing on wing run!! Trouble is we need a longer lake.

I like all points of sail, but the biggest exhilaration seems to come with running on a broad reach with a strong wind on your quarter, I guess because it's the fastest you can go and you cover so much water.

When running dead down wind, beware the accidental jibe from your main, it's easy to knock someone overboard and head injuries from the boom are possible. Some folks rig a preventer to help with this, if you don't use one, keep your crew and guests below the arc of the boom.

Sean, what's the luff length on that drifter? Looks pretty short to me. Maybe just one of those optical delusion thangs?
