Hi all,

Some time ago I mentioned that Pete Hansen was off on a trip to French Polynesia, aboard his 41' Bristol sloop, "PEARL" I've kept in touch with him via e-mail and cringed at his telling of piracy in around Jamaica and Venezuela. Real horror stories.
WELL HE'S BACK.
I'm sailing across Great South Bay off Sayville and spy this sailboat coming at me from seaward and over time it looms larger and larger. I'm on port tack so I become aware that he has the right of way since he's on the other tack, and as we come closer he seems to be altering course to port coming closer to me. Where is this jerk? I'm half way between signaling five short blasts on the trumpet and loading a test shell in the flare gun when a head pops out of the dodger and it's Cap't Pete...the bugger. Now he's a great guy but
abrasive at times. This almost being one of those times.
Can't wait till he's at the yard tomorrow for a debriefing.
