Hi. I purchased my Catalina 250 this spring. I am having some problems with my jib...when the roller furling is fully unrolled and be jib is fully extended - it rides up on top of the forerail. I cannot seem to trim it such that is clears the rail. There is no room to lift the sail higher on the furling. Likely my inexperience to blame. Any suggestions? Thank you!
Mine, too. I'll take a look at the attachment point at the head of the mast when I take down the mast this fall. I only need another inch or so, tops. Maybe I can improve the way the head is attached and make that up.
I do not have a C250 (a C25) and we have had a similar problem. Our jib would ride on the bow pulpit unless the sheets were heavily tightened. If you still have room at the top of the jib, you can add what is called a pendant. Racers normally add it to the top, but to raise the jib closer to the masthead, the pendant can also be mounted to the tack end. We had to do this on our 25 because we kept getting halyard wrap on our furler. Since we added the pendant, it has worked perfectly and the jib is riding higher off of the deck. BTW: If you would like a pic of the pendant, just let me know.
