I recently resealed the leaky windows in my 1980 Catalina 25. During the process, my opening port was so corroded and such a mess that I've decided I'm better off just replacing it.
I see on Catalina Direct there are a couple different sizes, and I've been looking At WestMarine.com. How should I measure the frame and cut out to ensure the dimensions are correct. It's an order only item at my local WM, so either from WM or CD, it's coming by mail. I want to be as sure as possible I order the right thing.
I bought some Bomar opening ports for my boat. I put opening ports on both sides of the cabin. I bought the Bomar N2515. I opted for a port that was slightly larger than the original cutout dimensions. This way I could trim the cabin side for a snug fit to the port light. A better fit will give you more overlap at the flange for better seal. The N2414 will fit but it might end up loose in the cutout with very little overlap, and then what are you going to do? They are special order. The page has bad information on it. The cutout for the N2414 is 6-1/8" x 15-15/16. However they list the cutout dimension as 4-3/16" x 14". This is the viewing opening, not the cutout. Call Bomar and talk to them. They offer two different finishes, one green and one in white. I used a drum sander to open up the cutout for the window.
